About PerraLures

My name is Per Sundström and I am the owner and founder of PerraLures. I live in Avesta, southern Dalarna, and have a passionate interest in both fishing and the most important tool – bait. Catching fish is one thing, but doing it with a handmade wobbler that I have made myself gives a completely different feeling.

My journey in bait building began in 2017 and today I create exclusive, handmade wooden wobblers, designed for effective trolling for zander and pike. Each wobbler is the result of meticulous craftsmanship, testing and a passion for detail.

Fishing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As early as three years old, I was able to accompany my father Åke on fishing trips. For me, fishing is about the excitement of the catch, the fight with the fish and the relaxation that the lake provides. And most of all, I want the fish to bite on one of my own moves.

Today, PerraLures has customers both in Sweden and internationally. I offer unique wobblers that differ in shape and color – no bait is exactly the same. It is a craft, or rather an art craft, where inspiration can come from unexpected places: a pattern on a package, my wife's clothes, a magazine or another bait I bought.

The craft behind a wobbler

The manufacture of a wobbler is a meticulous process. I start by roughly sawing out the shape with a band saw, then I fine-tune the details with a knife and grinders until I am satisfied. Then I mark and pre-drill the holes for the hook loops and lead weights, which gives the wobbler the right balance in the water. I also make the spoons that determine the depth at which the wobbler will go.

Once the shape is perfect, the wobbler is varnished and hand-painted with an airbrush in carefully thought-out color combinations – either according to my own vision or according to the customer's wishes. Finally, a protective varnish is applied in 8–10 layers for maximum durability and finish.
